Manic Monday or Manic Everyday

Are you familiar with the song Manic Monday by the Bangles?  Well it has been Manic Monday EVERYDAY up in here!  My to do list and the random strange things that keep happening (like my dog and the stick) have thrown me for a loop this week.  I have had things to go out and do each day which means not much getting accomplished here.  There is no light at the end of the tunnel because everyday next week I also have outings & then there is the normal day to day stuff.

The crazies I live with expect clean clothes AND food... on a regular basis.  It is outrageous is it not?  Do they not realize the scope of my work.  Do they not know how long it has been since I sat and watched Big Bang Theory?  Sigh.

So off I go into the wild madness of my to do list.  If I don't post for a week or so it might be because I ran away and joined the real circus in lieu of the circus I live.  I have always wanted to be a trapeze artist so it is a possibility.

Here is the song if you are unfamiliar :)  I remember doing a flashlight dance to this at Girl Scout Camp... ha ha ha.  Thank goodness there is no video of that preciousness.  Have a fab weekend!

Spring into Hodge Podge

This Wednesday I feel like I am on a roll with this whole blogging thing.  I back up to more than one post a week.  Yay me!  Luckily I have Joyce's great questions to help keep me going :)  Go to her blog at From This Side of The Pond to play along if you aren't already.

1. The first day of spring is here...do you enjoy working in the yard? Weeding, raking, mowing, planting-your favorite springtime garden chore? How about your least favorite?

It has been so long since I worked in the yard I don't remember if I really enjoy it.  I do love flowers and am hoping to be doing a bunch of planting here in the next month or so.  I would say mowing is my least favorite.  I think the lawn mower is just loud and cumbersome, although we have a new one that looks like a hovercraft so I might try that one out.

2. What puts a spring in your step?

Hmmm....well normally I would say a Coke and some Reese's Peanut Butter Cups but since I am on a health kick I would say good weather and when I am out in it having fun with the boys & they are all getting along.

3. Describe a time when you had to spring into action?

I have three boys and a dog and a husband.  I am constantly springing into action to keep them from maiming themselves or others :)

4. We're having carrots for dinner...would you prefer yours raw or cooked?

Raw with veggie dip.

5. Do you take the shampoos and other sundries from your hotel room when its time to check out?

No not anymore because I never use them and I get irritated when I have all those little bottles in my toiletry bag for months.  Although, the Sheraton in Seattle has the BEST lotion by Bliss so I wish I had about 100 of those!!

6. What's the most enjoyable team or club you've belonged to and what was it that made it so?

I don't know if I have a single team or club that I would pick.  I was a cheerleader in high school & I had a blast doing that with my friends and traveling.  I belonged to a group called Daughters of Penelope that was a Greek Organization and I really had fun with the ladies in that.  I think that is the extent of my clubs and teams.  Actually now that I think I belonged to the Yearbook/Newspaper club in high school (yes it was eons ago) and I loved that because I love to write, take pictures and put things together.

7. Is cloning a sign of progress?

Cloning freaks me out.  I can see the merit in being able to clone a healthy heart or kidney that someone needs for a transplant but I still think it has more potential for disaster than good right now.  Maybe because I don't know a lot about it but I find it could quickly turn bad.

8. Insert your own random thought here.

I am very excited because I will get to take a trip back to see my family & I get to go by myself which is rare.  I cannot wait to see everyone and run around Super Target :)  It is going to be a short but fantastic trip!  I am working extra hard on being healthy until then because I vainly want to be skinnier when I get there so I don't feel like such a frump with my nieces.  I am not sure if it is the correct motivation but it is motivation that will work for me so I say whatever works :)  Have a fab week !!

It's Okay Tuesday & I really meant to post yesterday

So I did not post yesterday.  Boo.  I just couldn't think of much to talk about & then I was up working on a project way too late.  When will I realize I am no longer 18 and cannot stay up all night and then be good to go for the next day?  Apparently the answer to that is never.  Such is life... some lessons we learn quickly and others we might never learn.
Anywho onto today's post which is "It's Okay Tuesday" which I found on this great blog, Airing My Dirty Laundry, One Sock at a Time.  Feel free to head on over, link up and join in on the venting or just head over to read because she is funny!  Seriously she left a comment on my last post and I started to laugh so hard I nearly sprayed my computer with a beverage.  And that was just a mere comment folks, imagine how much joy you would get out of a full post?  Alright here goes my rant:

It's Okay that my oldest stayed home from school yesterday because he was "soooo sick"  Even though it was very clear by afternoon that he was probably fine.  We all get the Monday blues sometimes and I think he was under the misguided notion that it is a party here all day when he is at school.  I believe the myth has been clearly shattered.

It's Okay that my dog got a stick stuck in his mouth yesterday and I had to call my husband home from work to get it out because I could not and said silly dog was freaking out.  Of course it took him two seconds.  Much shorter than the 25 min drive home & back but probably about as long as he had left for lunch when he did get back.

It's Okay that while I am on this journey of changing my lifestyle to a much healthier one I realize that I will NEVER give up Rocky Road Ice Cream.  EVER.  I must limit myself to one scoop instead of 5 at a time though.

It's Okay  that I would love to type about 50 more things on here but I am cutting it short so I can give my kids goodnight kisses and finish a project that I am currently 2 days behind on.

Hopefully your It's Okay list will be short because your week rocks not because you are out of time and or energy :)

Edward Cullen would be a handy guy to have around....just sayin

Late last night while I was up on a cleaning spree I found myself thinking about how tired I was and how I wished there was less to do and a better time than 1am to do it in.  In my mind ramblings I started thinking about Twilight and vampires and it occurred to me that having Edward Cullen would be pretty handy to have around.  Why you ask? Well.....

1- He is a fellow night owl.  He gets why I like to stay up late even though I am zombie like the next day. And, if I am going to be up late it needs to be for a reason other than cleaning.  Like scrapbooking, reading, etc.  Scrubbing toilets is not my idea of a good time.

2- He does not sleep.  That means HE could be up all night cleaning instead of me.  I could wake up rested to a clean house all the time.  That would be so fantastic it almost breaks my heart how impossible it is.

3- He is super super fast.  So he could clean really fast and then maybe whip up some batches of muffins for breakfast.

4- He's been around for a long time so he is brilliant at many things.  Awesome. In fact, he is probably such a great cook {even though he does not eat which equals more for me which is a bonus and yes I can be selfish like that} that he should just take that over as well.  Edward will be a better cook than me and I am okay with that because it means I am no longer the short order cook around here making three different meals.  Instead someone is bringing me some gourmet food.  Lovin it!

5- He is incredible strong which makes rearranging furniture and those frequent moves we do much easier.  "What you want me to move all the couches and your china cabinet?  No you don't like that arrangement?  No problem let's do it again."

6- Animals seem to avoid vampires so that takes care of the nasty mouse that is living in my garage.  Seems preferable to the current traps I have out.  I am not enthused about any part of that.

7.  How fast could your house be decorated after you move in?  He could hang all my pictures in what like 30 minutes tops?  How sweet would that be?  No more days of trying to get it done because  you are so busy trying to find a shower curtain and towels in the 800 boxes you have to open.

8.  I am sure I have an eight but again I thought of this at 1am and then didn't get to type it up until like 11:30pm the next night so .....the rest are up to you :)

If you could have some made up character in your life to help you who would it be and why?

*And yes I adore my husband and still want him here, and yes he does cook, hand pictures etc.  We have the same problem of both being really busy & when we do have free time it sucks to be using it on the non fun stuff.  So I just need an assistant and I think Edward would fit the bill nicely.

Luck of the Irish Hodge Podge 70

Yay for Wednesday and Hodge Podge time!  Although I recently purchased and am reading The Writer's Devotional that has 365 days of exercises, motivation and ideas so hopefully this blogging gig will be back to 5 days a week real soon :)  Enjoy and don't forget to go over to Joyce's fab blog This Side of the Pond and join in!

1. St. Patrick's Day will be celebrated this coming Saturday...what's a favorite article of clothing you own that contains a touch o' the green?

I have a skirt with green flowers on it that I love but I will probably just throw a green tshirt on :)

2. What's a favorite 'green space' in the town, state, or province where you live?

We adore a park called Valley Garden that has walking paths, a boat pond, beautiful flowers everywhere, a playground and a Frisbee golf area.  It is huge and amazing.

3. Do you wish you were taller, shorter, or think you're just about right in the height department?

I think I am just about right but I wouldn't mind being slightly taller.  I think I am 5'6 but I would like to be 5'7 1/2  :)

4. What's the surest way for someone to pick a fight with you?

To mess with my family.  Start trouble with my husband and my kids & I will be all over you.

5. Broccoli-Spinach-String Beans-Peas...of the four, your favorite green veg? (Or the one you dislike the least if that first option's too hard. I just know there's some veggie haters out there.)

I love green beans and peas.

6. March is National Women's History Month...besides friends, neighbors and the women you're related to, who's a woman in history you admire and why?

There are lots of different women I admire but one big one is Jackie Kennedy.  I think she was so dignified and full of grace.

7. Keep Calm and ____________on.
You fill in the blank.

Get your exercise on?  Really I think it would be get your chocolate on but I am trying to reform my bad health ways so let's say exercise :)

8. Insert your own random thought here.

I am so so so excited for spring.  So many great things happening.  Awaiting the birth of my great nephew, looking forward to bike riding and park outings with my boys and a trip home.  Yay spring!  Hope your week is full of joy and amazing weather :)

It's Okay Tuesday

So I stumbled upon this funny blog,  Airing My Dirty Laundry, One Sock At A Time  she does this It's Okay Tuesday thing that I thought I would participate in.  So I should have at least two blog posts a week now.  How exciting for us all.  {Read that last line with HEAVY sarcasm in case you weren't picking up on it previously} So go read her blog and join in if you want to vent too.

It's okay that I completely suck at blogging as of late... or maybe always.

It's okay that I have been stuck in a total creative rut for some time.  This too shall pass.

It's okay that I get angry at all the bicyclers out enjoying the good weather making difficult roads even more difficult to drive on.

It's okay that the scary double S curve road that I am referring to in the previous line now has bicyclers AND pedestrians that I am angry at.

It's okay we have been here nearly a year and I still have boxes to unpack.

It's okay that I occasionally hide in the laundry room and eat Reese's Peanut Butter Cups that my son is allergic to because moms need treats too. (and breaks)

It's okay that I meant to post this LAST week and am doing it now.

Ah this crazy lovely life.
